Fry Club Colts (7) v Yate Utd (2)
12/02/06
Fry’s came into this game
from the previous game where they had suffered their worst defeat to date.
Their pride had taken a tumble but their commitment and determination certainly
had not.
4 minutes into the first half
and Evan Thomas miss hits a shot into the box which is met by Dan Buley, who
seems to get the ball trapped beneath his feet but still manages to dig out a
shot which is fumbled by the Yate keeper and trickles over the goal line to get
Fry’s off the mark.
Yate pressured well and it
takes some swift and strong challenges at the back by Dan Stone and Tom Sheehan
to stem the attack.
Yate were awarded a free
kick in the 8th minute for handball which is drilled in low but is
deflected just wide.
Fry’s get goal number 2 in
the 9th minute after a good run by Harry Pople who sends a fine pass
into the back from wide out right which is flicked on to Ryan Ellett on the far
post who calmly side foots the ball into the net. 2 – 0 and Fry’s are looking
comfortable.
Tom Ashley is playing his
first game for Fry’s in goal and is playing well coming off his line
confidently and showing safe handling.
Harry Pople once again goes
on one of his unstoppable runs and sticks the ball through the keepers legs to take the score to 3 – 0.
Two minutes later a goal
kick from Yate only makes it to just outside their area. The ball is headed
down by Dan Buley who takes the ball into the area and calmly chips it over the
keeper. His second and Fry’s fourth.
Just before half time Yate
manage to get one back when their free kick is passed long up field and the
striker fires it in high over Tom Ashley. 4-1 going into the
break.
The second half sees Fry’s
continuing to show their determination with Dan Buley getting his hat trick 3
minutes in, chipping the keeper to make it 5 – 1 to Fry’s.
Fry’s have a goal by Ryan
Ellett disallowed when he was deemed to have been just offside when passed the
ball.
43 minutes into the game and
Dan Buley gets his fourth after heading home a fantastic cross from Harry Pople.
6 – 1 and Fry’s are playing as the team we knew from the start of the season.
Yate bring the score back to 6 – 2 when, from
a throw in, their striker finds himself totally unmarked and nets their second.
Fry’s continue to pile on
the pressure. John Cotgreave coming close with a
great shot which finds the side netting, but do manage
to finish the game with their 7th goal after the sustained
determination of Justin Skinner in mid field. He is rewarded when he fires in
to make the final score 7 – 2.
